Martin Steifensand the father of Martin G. Steifensand founded the company at the end of the 1960s in Wendelstein Germany and made it worldwide known by inventing the world´s first ergonomic health chair so-called „spinal disk chair“.
The family business with the father F.-Martin Steifensand and the son Martin-G. Steifensand was successful and the business grew rapidly until the company was sold to a Scandinavian group at the beginning of the 1990s.
Martin-G. Steifensand founded together with the father F.-Martin Steifensand in Wendelstein Germany 1998 again a complete new ergonomic chair manufacturer plant.

The legendary „spinal disk chair“remained a part of the SITWELL STEIFENSAND product range. A new office chair family for Mister and Ladies was developed: SitWell® caused a stir in the sector. With it, the company made another breakthrough.
