Martin-G. Steifensand found that differences in size, weight, and anatomy matter, and that by improving ergonomic design, some health problems could be relieved. In order to understand the anatomical differences between men and women, and how sitting compromises the anatomy of each, leading doctors in ergonomic science, including Michael Sababi from the Beverly Health Center, devoted several years of their careers to intensive medical research.
They showed that the ways women and men sit are associated with such health problems as migraines, varicose veins, cellulite, chronic fatigue, back and shoulder pain, and that modifying the chair design could help provide relief from these problems.
